February 2022 Newsletter

Can you believe it? We are already in February. The nation is in turmoil with socialism trying to take over our country and inflation soaring to a 40-year level and still rising. The fake news is spouting out their false narratives and our President is out of touch with reality.

Can you believe that grocery stores have empty shelves, gasoline is higher in price per gallon than ever before and Biden is pushing voting rights that will strip away the one safeguard, the voter ID.

Well, there is no value in complaining and no satisfaction in stating the obvious. Most of us are smart enough to realize what is going on and hopefully will vote the democrats out of office in the mid-term election this November.

February is the month of LOVE & ROMANCE. That’s how it was back in February of 1982 when Marilyn and I were married. It will soon be our 40th anniversary. The best thing is, it will also be a once-in-a-lifetime anniversary date…2/22/2022. That date will never again appear.

The 1st year we were married, I wrote over 300 love poems to my new wife and she loved all of them…at least she said she did. We were full of love for each other and still are. Oh, we had our ups and downs, back and forths, and tough times but through it all, we survived, as did our love.

As I look back over the 40 years, I can see some things that kept us together. I’d like to share them with you now.

  • We both are dedicated Christians who pray together every day and look to Jesus for wisdom, clarity of mind, and blessings over our marriage.
  • We are best friends who enjoy being together. We do everything as a couple.
  • We look for things of common interest that we both can share as a couple.
  • We have a rule that is based upon Bible scripture. It goes like this…

Ephesians 4:26-27 & 29
“Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:  Neither give place to the devil. Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.”

I know that the application of the above scripture is hard to do and we didn’t always get it right. However, there were nights when we stayed up almost all night fighting with each other and talking with each other until we resolved the issue. Our anger towards each other turned into anger against the devil and our resolution became clear as the Holy Spirit let us to repentance and prayer. There were times when I didn’t think we would make it through but somehow by the grace of God, we found a way. It was the Lord making a way where there was no way.

We strive to listen to each other so we know each other’s heart.

We work hard at keeping ME< ME< ME and not you in line. It is not all about Me. Our favorite saying is, “I choose US” It is all about us, and if that means taking a back seat while the other shines, so be it with God’s blessings.

We support one another in everything, doing our best to make it happen, what ever it is.
Here’s a poem I penned many years ago. It is not one of those 300 I spoke of previously but it shows the fire of romance that is in my heart..

You’re Everything To Me
If I could look over the years
I’d see the world at a glance
And watch the moonbeams
Do their funny little dance.

I’d listen for falling leaves
And I’d gaze upon life’s Amore
And wonder why it was
That you chose me to adore.

Oh how I love your gentle smile
And all that makes you, “You”.
I just want to be close by your side
So you can see that my love is true.

I am still in love with you
But surely this you see
You’re all that I ever need
You are everything to me.

I know that some will say that we are all caught up in each other and have no real self-identity. Well, that is just not true. Alone, we are empty and sad. Our self-identity is fragmented. However, together, we are complete as God desired. We are actually fulfilling His destiny. Life together is an adventure as we soar on the wings of love and walk in the Spirit with Jesus.

Let me encourage you all to call upon the Lord Jesus and make Him Lord over your life and marriage. If you are alone, ask Him for a companion that will blend with you in the love of God. It is possible to be happy and live an abundant life as Jesus said as recorded in John 10:10. You just need a little faith and a lot of dedication.

Until next time…be blessed
