It’s time to move on. Most of us want to stay in what we think is a comfortable spot only to find out that it becomes more difficult to stay there than to move on.
Things become more apparent to us as we look deeper into the situation. When our hopes and dreams of what we wanted didn’t pan out, we then have to look to God for our strength, our hopes and future. That’s not too bad if you take time to think about it. God always has a better plan. He knows the beginning of all things and the end as well. He knows the times we have tried but also knows what was really going to happen. So, I believe He has made provisions for each of us.
Didn’t He say in His Word that all things work together for good to those that love Him and are called according to His purpose (Romans 8:28)? Then what is His purpose for our lives? If we investigate more closely, we will see that His purpose is to have life and to have it more abundantly (John 10:10). What about family? What about the job I wanted. What about everything else in life? I could see each one of us pointing our finger that way when in fact God wants us to drop the finger pointing and look to Him to provide what is best for us. We don’t want to be like Lot’s wife. Remember her? Lot and his wife were leaving Sodom and Gomorrah and she turned back to look at what she was leaving and the destruction upon that city also destroyed her. We don’t want to be there.
Are you saddened by that thought? Didn’t you want what you wanted? How many times have you tried to go the way God wanted you to go and found out that it really was much better for you than your own way? You discovered that you were a lot happier than you had thought you could have been. If you had stayed in your wants and your
expectations, you never would have experienced the abundant life of John 10:10.
I guess this year we need to stop holding on to the things and people we think we need. They only cause us heartache and tears. We need to let God take control so we can find our times and life in Him.
“Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but God delivers them from them all.”
God will always shine light on our situation so that we can understand that we do not need to stay there anymore, but to move on with Him and His plans for our life. Sometimes our emotions scream inside us to stay in a particular situation, but we must move on in order to have the more abundant life God has promised us.
I pray that this year will be the greatest time you have ever had in walking with the Lord as He leads you on to a more abundant life.
Until next time …Marilyn Marinelli
